Today's reading: Deut. 3-4; Ps. 36; Mark 13
In Psalm 36, David, who lived through war and political turmoil, compares the dark character of evil men with the awesome, beautiful, majestic character of God who saw him through it all.
In Mark 13, Jesus warns His friends that in the days ahead they would face persecution, arrest, and the destruction of Jerusalem - in other words, very serious trouble. He warns them to prepare for such trouble by paying attention to God and relying on Him.
Trouble eventually comes to us all, but even if it isn't the end of our world, we have a choice: to respond out of own character (out of ourselves), or out of His character and our relationship with Him. He'll lead us through it if we'll let Him.
Lord, help me to get to know you better, and to live out of our relationship. I'll follow your lead because I know you love me immensely. Thanks for being so awesome!! Amen!
