Today's reading: Num. 32-33; Mark 10
“. . . all things are possible with God.” – Mark 10:27
With God. Not ahead of God, not aside from God, not apart from God. A simple prepositional phrase, yet a powerful statement that reflects God’s heart for us and the relationship He desires to have with us.
In Numbers, before the Israelites were to settle in the Promised Land, God instructed them to drive out the wicked inhabitants and destroy their idols. God envisioned a new life for the Israelites, in which they would move forward in relationship with Him and obedience to Him. God desired for the Israelites to pursue Him wholeheartedly and walk with Him into the place He purposed especially for them. Similarly, in the passage from Mark, when the rich young man asked how to inherit eternal life, Jesus instructed him to empty his life of his material possessions and follow Him. Jesus desired for people to follow Him fully, to be with Him in heart and mind, without any barriers.
God’s heart beats for us. He is passionate about us and wants a relationship with us. And it is in that place of wholehearted pursuit, with reckless abandon and without barriers, that He will lead us into the life He purposed for us, where all things are possible.
Lord, thank you for loving us and pursuing us, and for the new life you envision for us. I ask you to show me the barriers in my life and in my heart so that I may move forward in relationship with You and obedience to You. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.

What an awesome word Amanda! God told the children of Israel that they would not enter the promise land because their heart was not interested in following God. Physically they followed God from place to place. God gave manna, water, and his prescence by day and night and still Israel's heart was not with God. This was evidenced by the grumbling, moaning and complaining. The last straw was when they saw adversity, took one look and quit; instead of believing. We must be engaged in a heart-to-heart relationship with God. When we are engaged, I mean TRULY engaged, God gives us strength to take steps into the promise land and defeat giants. Yes that's right DEFEAT. Defeat means to bring to nothing; destroy; overcome; thwart and prevent the success of.I have had [and still have]some major giants in my life, fear, abuse, bitterness, selfishness, low self-esteem,jealousy etc. The only way to deal with these giants[and take our inheritance] is to die to self and fight the good fight of faith. There is not one part of the armor of God that includes protection for our back. Why? Because the armor is designed for those who stand and face the enemy; not those who run. Let's be like David. A man after God's own heart. David believed God to the point of picking up three small stones and a slingshot and he changed history.
